Twitter

I edited this using 'Inspect Element'. This will be useful when we do our promotional video because if we show one of our tweets we can change the amount of retweets and favourites to make us look more popular. It also means that if we show our whole twitter account, we can just edit a verified user's account to make it look as if we are verified.

Twitter and other social media sites such as Youtube and Facebook are a huge influence in the music industry. An example of a boy group who have come to fame only through twitter is a group called 'Overload'. This group wanted to make their own way to the top rather than going on shows such as Xfactor and Britain's Got Talent like most people do these days. The boy band started off on twitter with their name being @YourBoyband as they wanted to be 'the people's boyband' and their fans ended up coming up with the name 'Overload' for them as they interacted with them through tweeting and twitcams where they showed off their singing and their bubbly personalities. After only 11 weeks, the boys managed to get over 100,000 followers on twitter and a secure fandom without even bringing out a debut single.
Twitter hasn't always been used as a promotional site as before it existed artists had to use things such as the radio, print and TV shows (For example like Girls Aloud did in 2002 when they went on the show, Popstars: The Rivals). The convergence from these sorts of things to social media sites has made a huge difference as many of the most famous artists have come off the internet. Eg. Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson came off YouTube.

We intend to use social media in our promotional video to interact with our fans. We will specifically be using twitter as we will be answering questions from people on twitter. When they ask questions, we are going to ask them to use the hashtag #AskRyleighAndClara. By doing this we will get our hashtag trending Worldwide so that everyone on twitter at the time of the Q&A session will see the trend so if they don't already know about us they can click on the hashtag and find out who we are and what the Q&A session is for.
